Hi all,

Unfortunately after deleting all the 'rss_' files via phpMyAdmin, the status of the site was kindda identical: When FeedWorldPress is activated, the site times out and/or returns a 500. When FeedWorldPress is deactivated, the page loading and rendering go as far as the first <?php if (is_syndicated()) : ?> call is made and stops right there, leaving a partially rendered page. When rechecking wp_options, several 'rss_' files were already created, so FeedWorldPress was still pulling the feeds, but that didn't translate into a displayed feed content.

Of course the cache was cleared. I also deleted the plugin and reinstalled it, but to no avail. The site behaviour remains the same (as described above).

Any advice as to what my next step(s) should be? I am a tad desperate now since my site is built around FeedWorldPress to work properly. If I cannot fix this, it would imply either replacing FeedWorldPress with another plugin to perform the same functions (although I haven't seen one around that performs all those functions), or redesign the site almost in its totality, which of course I would rather avoid...

Thanks in advance for your feedback.

Cheers,

You'll need to edit entries in the wp_options table of your database using something like PhpMyadmin. Just ensure that you backup the entire database before you change anything.

Yes I did. That Twitter app was not a WP one, so I simply deleted the code. I have also removed all plugins to see if one of them created the problem. After doing that, only the header of my blog would show, and nothing below it. Went through the painful process to reactivate each of the plugins to see if a particular one is the culprit.

It's my FeedWorldPress RSS aggregator, as when reactivated, I get the 500 again. I think it's in relation to way it's handling Magpie and the caching process. But I am really out of my depth here... So disappointing...

I found the following quote from some one who loks like had the same issue: "The fix for this is relatively simple: delete every option_name in wp_options that begins with 'rss_'". But I do not know how to do that. maybe some one can explain, so that I try to implement that fix and see if it solves the issue.

Many thanks,

Hi Esmi,

Thanks for this, but no joy...

Last thing I was working on was adding a Twitter app http://twitter.com/goodies/widget_search. It was working, until suddenly the site stopped with that error.

It wasn't a WP plugin and I do not use Supercache (I was told it's know for generating that error). I have contacted the host provider, Network Solutions but they take time to reply. I don't think they'll find anything because the root URL works http://www.dombey.com. It's the blog URL that doesn't work anymore http://www.dombey.com/blog/ and all other sub-directories below that.
I did not touch the .htaccess file. And cannot attach it to this thread as it is not a valid file; but when I open it using Dreamweaver, here is what I read:

# BEGIN WordPress
<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /blog/
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule . /blog/index.php [L]
</IfModule>

# END WordPress

That's it. It's chmod 664

:(

Thanks for your feedback guys - most appreciated.

Hello,

I am running a windows 2008 IIS 7.0 server and am trying to install wordpress in a subdirectory. I have installed wordpress many times on hostgator before without any problems, but now that I am on a windows server I can't seem to identify why install won't run.

When going directly to the url I get:

403 - Forbidden: Access is denied.
You do not have permission to view this directory or page using the credentials that you supplied.

and when going to /wp-admin/install.php I get:

500 - Internal server error.
There is a problem with the resource you are looking for, and it cannot be displayed.

After reviewing some of the threads, I attempted to change permissions, duplicate a .htaccess file, since one was not generated, and checked to see if php was properly installed with a fastcgi bin. I am still at the same place I began, nothing.

Please help.

Something croaked on your server. Check your .htaccess via FTP for the standard WP rewrite block:

<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule . /index.php [L]
</IfModule>

And 500 server errors often are from bad .htaccess files: bad character encoding, line endings, etc.

My blog is running on the latest version of Wordpress (2.8.4).

I noticed last night that both my homepage (http://www.hellagood.de) and the corresponding login-page are blank all of a sudden. I looked into my stats and noticed that the site stopped registering visits on Thursday.

Here's the thing, I was away from my computer on Thursday and Friday, so I don't think I could have done anything to cause this? The last time I updated plugins was Tuesday. I have tried deleting both of these from the plugins-directory to no avail. I also deleted my current theme, but both pages still remain blank.

Trying to auto-post via Posterous resulted in a "HTTP-Error: 500 Internal Server Error"

I hate to say this, but please help me! I don't even know where I could start trying to fix this. It seems like it might be a server-related issue, but other directories on the server, including my Mint-installation, are still accessible. And I just can't understand why Wordpress now returns a blank page, despite me not changing anything about the installation.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

for about almost a week I'm reading this forum and can't solve the issue.

My problem is to install the new version. I deleted all the old files, the database, everything.

After I uploaded he new version (2.8.4-IIS) still gives me this error, the same with a fresh new install of 2.6.3.

This error showed up after I activated the above plugins. Do you think that was something that affected the server configuration? or could be a server problem?

Daniel,

The first thing I would try is to rename the plugin folder and see if you still get the error. If not, you need to re-enable each plugin one at a time to see which one is causing the problem.

If that doesn't work, can you list what you've tried as well?

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.
Please contact the server administrator to inform of the time the error occurred and of anything you might have done that may have caused the error.
More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

1. I deleted the files, uploaded the backup and the same error.
2. Started a new install and the same error stands up.
3. Uploaded 2.8.4-IIS and the same, nothing works.

I mention that the web hosting service is windows based.

What do you think I should do, I tryed all the options I know...

Thank you in advance.

Hello ppl

Ive tried all the solutions offered on other topics, and i'm not to wordpress savy, i use it to blog and thats about it. I'm hosted by go daddy and like i said tried changing my htaccess to htaccess.txt and back i cant even get into my wp-admin page. any help would be amazing.

Thanks in advance

I'm moving my WordPress install from a subfolder (http://kcadp.og/wordpress) to the root directory (http://kcadp.og/) and am having problems.

I'm step 10 on Moving WordPress Within Your Site:

If you are using Permalinks, go to the Administration > Settings > Permalinks panel and update your Permalink structure to your .htaccess file, which should be in the same directory as the main index.php file.

But I'm unable to access any of the files in wp-admin, as I get this error:

Any suggestions? Thanks!

Error 500 means there is some configuration problem on the server/site. If you have shared hosting plan I suggest you to contact your host. Also, make sure that PHP is working properly on the server. You can upload sample test script to check it.
