<description>&#60;p&#62;I have been looking for something like this for quite awhile, opening thumb into a larger div on same page. &#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;I am wondering if any one has used the code/s above and then dropped the&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;a href=&#34;http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/shadowbox-js/&#34; rel=&#34;nofollow&#34;&#62;http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/shadowbox-js/&#60;/a&#62;&#60;br /&#62;
Shadowbox plugin in to use on the larger image to open the largest image in shadowbox?&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;thumb---&#38;gt; to medium size in div ---&#38;gt; to click on that and shadowbox opens full size (controlled by browser sizing) ??&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;Any idea on how to implement that?&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;thanks

<description>&#60;p&#62;Hi it's me again--&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;MUCHOS GRACIAS STINGRAY!&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;I took those 5 dots out of the code directly underneath:&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;&#60;code&#62;&#38;lt;?php foreach (?images as $image) : ?&#38;gt;&#60;/code&#62;&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;and now the gallery seems to be displaying perfectly in Safari. That first image is no longer &#34;jumping&#34; out of alignment with the next column.

<description>&#60;p&#62;Hey Stingray,&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;Here's my thoughts on a thumbnail container: I made a DIV to put these in (here's an example css)&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;pre&#62;&#60;code&#62;#gallerythumbs {
overflow: auto;
	margin: 0px 0px 0px 0px;
	/*padding: 0px 10px 0px 0px; */
	width: 160px;
	height: 470px;
	position: absolute; top: 0% /* for explorer only */
}&#60;/code&#62;&#60;/pre&#62;
&#60;p&#62;If you view the source of this page : &#60;a href=&#34;http://artofgabriel.com/paintings/urban-legend/&#34;&#62;gallery&#60;/a&#62;&#60;br /&#62;
you'll be able to see where I placed the DIV. Mind you, I'm not using the overflow scroll but I do have the thumbnail div in place.&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;Also, I made my own gallery.php template so I'm not using the default, this way any changes made are not upset with any nextgen gallery updates.

<description>&#60;p&#62;Hi Stingray,&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;The image size issue was one of the first ones I had with NGG.  I had to set the width the Overview div to 300px and the big_img_container to 400px and float them to the right and left respectively.  &#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;In other news, the &#60;br /&#62; tag works in the descriptions and now the galleries are all functioning.  The only remaining issue is that the first image in the thumbnails gallery on the right is not aligned horizontally with the 2nd column in Safari.&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;a href=&#34;http://www.lovejoydesigns.net/featured-products/&#34; rel=&#34;nofollow&#34;&#62;http://www.lovejoydesigns.net/featured-products/&#60;/a&#62;&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;Any ideas out there?

<description>&#60;p&#62;I have two problems -&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;I have a test of 23 thumbnails- I'd like to enclose then in a container with overflow:scroll; but I can't make or find any container that will contain the thumbs generated by the JS&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;the other problem is not related to this thread, not sure if I should start a new thread? but will mention it here in case it's obvious -&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;when uploading images to the gallery, they are not controlled by the maximum size set under options and come out at original larger size

<description>&#60;p&#62;@jennsweb I've copied your css and gellery PHP and have the thumbnails on the right as I wanted - thank you&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;I have those strange blue dotted lines too- haven't found out whats causing them yet, but they go near the option to 'View with piclens' which I haven't removed. There are 5 blue dots and 3 groups of them- I have 3 test images hmmm.You have 5 groups and 5 thumbs. The second and 3rd groups underline when hovered over - as do yours. I think they are for the alt text Title.&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;I got the 'undefined' error when I renamed the Alt &#38;amp; Title text which then renamed the filename so the picture couldn't be accessed.&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;midday Friday 20th Nov current test is at- &#60;a href=&#34;http://cyclonekit.com/test/?page_id=2&#34; rel=&#34;nofollow&#34;&#62;http://cyclonekit.com/test/?page_id=2&#60;/a&#62; it's just a test website, not the eventual one I will use this on.

<description>&#60;p&#62;Hey Jennsweb,&#60;br /&#62;
Okay, the only thing I can figure is that in the gallery alt and descriptions, if you have any hard breaks/returns, that undefined error appears. That's been my experience. The way I get around that is placing  &#34;&#38;lt; br &#38;gt;&#34; tags within the areas that I need a break in the text.&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;I know somewhere there's code to catch hard-returns in a value and convert them for output but I haven't figured out how to do it yet. So for now, I have to tell my client(s) to put in the tag if they wish for multiple lines of text.&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;So, you're most welcome and see if the above tag eliminates the undefined error?

<description>&#60;p&#62;Hi Lok1728&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;Thanks for straightening that out!  I installed the code and the galleries are working.  But...&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;I had to delete the gallery that was on the featured products page and re-create it under a different name.  It worked great when I had one word in the description but when I added the entire text (which the client needs to describe the product and list the price), I got the Undefined error again.  It seems like this method only works when there is one line in the description?  (working perfectly in the Portfolio Galleries which have 1 or 2 words in description)&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;Thanks for all your help!

<description>&#60;p&#62;Hey Jennsweb,&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;There are a couple items that I see right off.&#60;br /&#62;
In your link code for &#60;strong&#62;custom effect&#60;/strong&#62;, you should only have this:&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;code&#62;class=&#38;quot;highslide&#38;quot; onclick=&#38;quot;return custom_effect(this, &#38;#39;big_image_container&#38;#39;, &#38;#39;&#38;#39;)&#38;quot;&#60;/code&#62;&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;In you header javascript, you only need this code:&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;pre&#62;&#60;code&#62;function custom_effect(img, div, attr) {
	if(img != &#38;#39;undefined&#38;#39; &#38;amp;&#38;amp; div != &#38;#39;undefined&#38;#39; &#38;amp;&#38;amp; div != &#38;#39;&#38;#39;) {
		var d = document.getElementById(div);
		var html = &#38;#39;&#38;lt;span&#38;gt;&#38;lt;/span&#38;gt;&#38;#39; + &#38;#39;&#38;lt;img src=&#38;quot;&#38;#39; + img + &#38;#39;&#38;quot;&#38;#39;; /* need span for IE hack to center image vertically */
		if(attr != &#38;#39;undefined&#38;#39; &#38;amp;&#38;amp; attr != &#38;#39;&#38;#39;) {
			html += &#38;#39; &#38;#39; + attr;
		}
		html += &#38;#39;&#38;lt;/div&#38;gt;&#38;#39; + &#38;#39;&#38;lt;div id=&#38;quot;desc_container&#38;quot;&#38;gt;&#38;#39; + &#38;#39;&#38;lt;span class=&#38;quot;artTitle&#38;quot;&#38;gt;&#38;#39; + default_img_title[img] + &#38;#39;&#38;lt;/span&#38;gt;&#38;lt;br /&#38;gt;&#38;#39; + default_img_description[img] + &#38;#39;&#38;lt;/div&#38;gt;&#38;#39;;
		d.innerHTML = html;
	}
	return false;
}
&#38;lt;/script&#38;gt;&#60;/code&#62;&#60;/pre&#62;
&#60;p&#62;The function desc_effect (desc, div) code appears to be one of my earlier attempts to get the description and titles to show up but it didn't work very well - hence the &#34;UNDEFINED&#34; text on the first image. So, if you look at ARPE's full list of code and instructions, that's pretty much the steps.&#60;br /&#62;
I hope this helps. It's the first thing I came across looking at your code and site.

<description>&#60;p&#62;I realized that in all the posts back and forth, the solution I had been looking for was divided up between different sets of code.  Here's what I'm using for each step.  You can see things properly in action here:&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;&#60;a href=&#34;http://testblog4.jennmearswebdesign.com/portfolio/wayland/&#34; rel=&#34;nofollow&#34;&#62;http://testblog4.jennmearswebdesign.com/portfolio/wayland/&#60;/a&#62;&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;(Note: Wayland is a child page of Portfolio)&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;Things aren't quite working right on this page.  (I also tested by inserting the gallery in a child page, but no dice.)&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;&#60;a href=&#34;http://testblog4.jennmearswebdesign.com/featured-products/&#34; rel=&#34;nofollow&#34;&#62;http://testblog4.jennmearswebdesign.com/featured-products/&#60;/a&#62;&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;The page loads  with the word &#34;Undefined&#34; where the first image should be.  Both Galleries' images also use description text for the images.&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;Here's the code I'm using:&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;&#60;strong&#62;Javascript for Header&#60;/strong&#62;&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;Pasted in between &#38;lt;/title&#38;gt; and stylesheet link&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;pre&#62;&#60;code&#62;&#38;lt;script language=&#38;quot;javascript&#38;quot; type=&#38;quot;text/javascript&#38;quot;&#38;gt;
/*
* Author Arafat Rahman (&#60;a href=&#34;http://arafatbd.net)ANDlok1728ammended&#34; rel=&#34;nofollow&#34;&#62;http://arafatbd.net)ANDlok1728ammended&#60;/a&#62;
*/
function custom_effect(img, div, attr) {
	if(img != &#38;#39;undefined&#38;#39; &#38;amp;&#38;amp; div != &#38;#39;undefined&#38;#39; &#38;amp;&#38;amp; div != &#38;#39;&#38;#39;) {
		var d = document.getElementById(div);
		var html = &#38;#39;&#38;lt;span&#38;gt;&#38;lt;/span&#38;gt;&#38;#39; + &#38;#39;&#38;lt;img src=&#38;quot;&#38;#39; + img + &#38;#39;&#38;quot;&#38;#39;; /* need span for IE hack to center image vertically */
		if(attr != &#38;#39;undefined&#38;#39; &#38;amp;&#38;amp; attr != &#38;#39;&#38;#39;) {
			html += &#38;#39; &#38;#39; + attr;
		}
		html += &#38;#39;&#38;lt;/div&#38;gt;&#38;#39; + &#38;#39;&#38;lt;div id=&#38;quot;desc_container&#38;quot;&#38;gt;&#38;#39; + &#38;#39;&#38;lt;span class=&#38;quot;artTitle&#38;quot;&#38;gt;&#38;#39; + default_img_title[img] + &#38;#39;&#38;lt;/span&#38;gt;&#38;lt;br /&#38;gt;&#38;#39; + default_img_description[img] + &#38;#39;&#38;lt;/div&#38;gt;&#38;#39;;
		d.innerHTML = html;
	}
	return false;
}
function desc_effect (desc, div) {
	if(desc != &#38;#39;undefined&#38;#39; &#38;amp;&#38;amp; div != &#38;#39;undefined&#38;#39; &#38;amp;&#38;amp; div != &#38;#39;&#38;#39;) {
		var t = document.getElementById(div).innerHTML = desc.title;
		var html = &#38;#39;&#38;#39; + desc + &#38;#39;&#38;#39;;
		t.innerHTML = html;
	}
	return false;
}

&#38;lt;/script&#38;gt;&#60;/code&#62;&#60;/pre&#62;
&#60;p&#62;&#60;strong&#62;Call to Javascript in Footer&#60;/strong&#62;&#60;br /&#62;
inserted just before &#38;lt;/body&#38;gt;&#60;/p&#62;

&#60;p&#62;&#60;strong&#62;Here's the Gallery Template HTML .  It's from the Default Image edit to the end of the code&#60;/strong&#62;&#60;br /&#62;
(NOTE: I needed to get the Thumbnails to display on the right and after a lot of trial and error, mostly the latter, I realized that if I close the div for the Gallery Overview just after the Thumbnails-related divs, I can force the width of the thumbnails &#34;container&#34; to 300px, floated right)&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;pre&#62;&#60;code&#62;&#38;lt;!-- Default Image --&#38;gt;
	&#38;lt;script language=&#38;quot;javascript&#38;quot;&#38;gt;

&#60;p&#62;And, last but not least,&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;strong&#62;Here's the Gallery specific CSS from the Default stylesheet for NGG&#60;/strong&#62;&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;pre&#62;&#60;code&#62;/* ----------- Gallery style -------------*/

.ngg-galleryoverview {
	overflow: hidden;
	margin-top: 0px;
	width: 300px;
height:400px;
	clear:both;
	display:block !important;
float:right;
background-color:#fff;
}

.ngg-galleryoverview .desc {
/* required for description */
   margin:0px 10px 10px 0px;
   padding:5px;

}

.artTitle {
color:#fff;
}

.ngg-gallery-thumbnail-box {
	float: left;

}

.ngg-gallery-thumbnail {
	float: left;
	margin-right: 5px;
	text-align: center;
color:#fff;
}

.ngg-gallery-thumbnail img {
	background-color:#FFFFFF;
	border:1px solid #A9A9A9;
	display:block;
	margin:0px 0px 4px 5px;
	padding:4px;
	position:relative;

}

.ngg-gallery-thumbnail img:hover {
	background-color: #A9A9A9;
}

.ngg-gallery-thumbnail span {
	/* Images description */
	font-size:90%;
	padding-left:5px;
	display:block;

}

.ngg-clear {
	clear: both;
}

#big_image_container {
float:left;
width:400px;
}

#desc_container {
float:left;
width:400px;
font-size:12px;
color:#7D8FA0;
}&#60;/code&#62;&#60;/pre&#62;
&#60;p&#62;This is what's working for me on at least one gallery. If anyone can help me figure out why the featured-products page isn't doing the same thing as the Portfolio page, I'd really be grateful!

&#60;p&#62;Having that same UNDEFINED issue on the home page, but once the thumbnails are clicked, things work.  There are some weird dots above the thumbnails in FF and methinks it may be a hidden div issue again.&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;Thanks to all for the help found here! I can't believe how little (real and useful) info there is out there on how to customize the gallery!

<description>&#60;p&#62;One more question:&#60;br /&#62;
When I am editing the NGG template, gallery.php, do I need to put JS in the div for the description?&#60;/p&#62;

<description>&#60;p&#62;Hey!  The images are working now.  THANKS!&#60;br /&#62;
I have quite a few nested divs in the page so that's exactly what the issue was.&#60;br /&#62;
I'm also having that Undefined thing show up where the description goes so I'll work on that as well.&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;Thank you!!

<description>&#60;p&#62;Jennsweb,&#60;br /&#62;
Hi. I checked your site, and it appears the DIV #contentpages is covering the DIV of your thumbnail(s). Check your DIV locations. That 2nd thumbnail is showing as a link, we just can't select it because it's under that DIV.&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;I think that what the problem may be?&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;\oh and thanks arpe for posting a clearer set of code and instructions than I had!

<description>&#60;p&#62;Help!!!&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;I've gotten a Gallery to display properly here:&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;a href=&#34;http://www.lovejoydesigns.net/portfolio/waban/&#34; rel=&#34;nofollow&#34;&#62;http://www.lovejoydesigns.net/portfolio/waban/&#60;/a&#62;&#60;br /&#62;
BUT, only the first thumbnail (the one for the big image loaded into the container) seems to function.  One can't navigate the second image.&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;Do javascript errors affect links?  I am trying to create links to the individual portfolio pages (waban, beacon hill and wayland) from the main portfolio page and even though the correct URL is hand-coded into the table in the middle of &#60;a href=&#34;http://lovejoydesigns.net/portfolio&#34; rel=&#34;nofollow&#34;&#62;http://lovejoydesigns.net/portfolio&#60;/a&#62;, the links aren't working.&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;Thanks for all the help found here. Everyone gets a HUGE credit on my site when this is figured out!

<description>&#60;p&#62;Hi Stingraynut, &#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;I was just doing it today so here is what I've done: &#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;1) open file header.php &#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;2) paste this code after closing &#38;lt;/title&#38;gt; tag, in the next line&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;pre&#62;&#60;code&#62;&#38;lt;script language=&#38;quot;javascript&#38;quot; type=&#38;quot;text/javascript&#38;quot;&#38;gt;
/*
* Author Arafat Rahman (&#60;a href=&#34;http://arafatbd.net&#34; rel=&#34;nofollow&#34;&#62;http://arafatbd.net&#60;/a&#62;)
*/
function custom_effect(img, div, attr) {
	if(img != &#38;#39;undefined&#38;#39; &#38;amp;&#38;amp; div != &#38;#39;undefined&#38;#39; &#38;amp;&#38;amp; div != &#38;#39;&#38;#39;) {
		var d = document.getElementById(div);
		var html = &#38;#39;&#38;lt;span&#38;gt;&#38;lt;/span&#38;gt;&#38;#39; + &#38;#39;&#38;lt;img src=&#38;quot;&#38;#39; + img + &#38;#39;&#38;quot;&#38;#39;; /* need span for IE hack to center image vertically */
		if(attr != &#38;#39;undefined&#38;#39; &#38;amp;&#38;amp; attr != &#38;#39;&#38;#39;) {
			html += &#38;#39; &#38;#39; + attr;
		}
		html += &#38;#39;&#38;lt;/div&#38;gt;&#38;#39; + &#38;#39;&#38;lt;div id=&#38;quot;desc_container&#38;quot;&#38;gt;&#38;#39; + &#38;#39;&#38;lt;span class=&#38;quot;artTitle&#38;quot;&#38;gt;&#38;#39; + default_img_title[img] + &#38;#39;&#38;lt;/span&#38;gt;&#38;lt;br /&#38;gt;&#38;#39; + default_img_description[img] + &#38;#39;&#38;lt;/div&#38;gt;&#38;#39;;
		d.innerHTML = html;
	}
	return false;
}
&#38;lt;/script&#38;gt;&#60;/code&#62;&#60;/pre&#62;
&#60;p&#62;you can really paste it anywhere in HEAD section of the document - what is IMPORTANT - the script has to definitely end before closing &#38;lt;/head&#38;gt; tag.&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;3) open file called gallery.php - it should be located in:&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;wp-content&#38;gt;plugins&#38;gt;nextgen-gallery&#38;gt;view&#38;gt;gallery.php&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;4) now, find this line and code: &#60;/p&#62;
&#60;pre&#62;&#60;code&#62;&#38;lt;!-- Thumbnails --&#38;gt;
	&#38;lt;?php foreach ($images as $image) : ?&#38;gt;

		&#38;lt;div class=&#38;quot;ngg-gallery-thumbnail&#38;quot; &#38;gt;
			&#38;lt;a href=&#38;quot;&#38;lt;?php echo $image-&#38;gt;imageURL ?&#38;gt;&#38;quot; title=&#38;quot;&#38;lt;?php echo $image-&#38;gt;description ?&#38;gt;&#38;quot; &#38;lt;?php echo $image-&#38;gt;thumbcode ?&#38;gt; &#38;gt;
				&#38;lt;img title=&#38;quot;&#38;lt;?php echo $image-&#38;gt;alttext ?&#38;gt;&#38;quot; alt=&#38;quot;&#38;lt;?php echo $image-&#38;gt;alttext ?&#38;gt;&#38;quot; src=&#38;quot;&#38;lt;?php echo $image-&#38;gt;thumbnailURL ?&#38;gt;&#38;quot; &#38;lt;?php echo $image-&#38;gt;size ?&#38;gt; /&#38;gt;
			&#38;lt;/a&#38;gt;
		&#38;lt;/div&#38;gt;
	&#38;lt;/div&#38;gt;
	&#38;lt;?php if ( $gallery-&#38;gt;columns &#38;gt; 0 &#38;amp;&#38;amp; ++$i % $gallery-&#38;gt;columns == 0 ) { ?&#38;gt;
&#38;lt;!--	&#38;lt;br style=&#38;quot;clear: both&#38;quot; /&#38;gt; --&#38;gt;
	&#38;lt;?php } ?&#38;gt;
 	&#38;lt;?php endforeach; ?&#38;gt;

	&#38;lt;!-- Pagination --&#38;gt;
 	&#38;lt;?php echo $pagination ?&#38;gt;

&#38;lt;/div&#38;gt;

&#38;lt;?php endif; ?&#38;gt;&#60;/code&#62;&#60;/pre&#62;
&#60;p&#62;and replace it with: &#60;/p&#62;
&#60;pre&#62;&#60;code&#62;&#38;lt;!-- Default Image --&#38;gt;

&#38;lt;script language=&#38;quot;javascript&#38;quot;&#38;gt;

&#38;lt;?php $i = 0;?&#38;gt;
&#38;lt;?php foreach ($images as $image) : ?&#38;gt;

&#38;lt;!-- Thumbnails --&#38;gt;

&#38;lt;div id=&#38;quot;ngg-image-&#38;lt;?php echo $image-&#38;gt;pid ?&#38;gt;&#38;quot; class=&#38;quot;ngg-gallery-thumbnail-box&#38;quot; &#38;lt;?php echo $gallery-&#38;gt;imagewidth ?&#38;gt; &#38;gt;

&#38;lt;/script&#38;gt;
&#38;lt;/div&#38;gt;
&#38;lt;/div&#38;gt;

&#38;lt;?php $i++; ?&#38;gt;

&#38;lt;?php endforeach; ?&#38;gt;

&#38;lt;div id=&#38;quot;big_image_container&#38;quot;&#38;gt;&#38;lt;/div&#38;gt;
&#38;lt;script language=&#38;quot;javascript&#38;quot;&#38;gt; custom_effect(default_img[0], &#38;quot;big_image_container&#38;quot;, &#38;quot;&#38;quot;); &#38;lt;/script&#38;gt;

&#38;lt;!-- Pagination --&#38;gt;
&#38;lt;?php echo $pagination ?&#38;gt;

&#38;lt;/div&#38;gt;

&#38;lt;?php endif; ?&#38;gt;&#60;/code&#62;&#60;/pre&#62;
&#60;p&#62;5) Now, login to your WordPress and on the menu - left hand side - below Settings you should see Gallery, go to Options, and from top menu chose Effects;&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;6) JavaScript Thumbnail Effect: chose &#38;gt; Custom&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;7) Link code line: paste this code &#38;gt; class=&#34;highslide&#34; onclick=&#34;return custom_effect(this, 'big_image_container', '')&#34; &#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;8) Make sure you click on &#34;Save Changes&#34;&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;9) From top menu chose: Gallery, and make sure that option &#34;Show ImageBrowser&#34; is NOT selected!!!&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;10) it should all work now! If you want to make some changes to the BIG image that is displayed below thumbnails you should edit your CSS file, for example: &#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;#big_image_container img {&#60;br /&#62;
	border:1px solid #A9A9A9;&#60;br /&#62;
	margin: 10px;&#60;br /&#62;
	padding:5px;&#60;br /&#62;
	height:350px;&#60;br /&#62;
	max-width:500px;&#60;br /&#62;
/*	display:block !important;  */&#60;br /&#62;
}&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;Hope it all works for you, and you will be able to fix your gallery!&#60;/p&#62;

<description>&#60;p&#62;Hi arafat &#38;amp; lok1728 both your sites are brilliant- this is exactly what I want to do.&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;I am hazy on PHP and JS,  I often manage to copy or change them succesfully, but my attempt to copy the instructions failed.&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;Please could someone help me with these basic questions?&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;Step Two - where in header.php do I put that code? &#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;Step Four - You say 'edit' - do I replace the thumbnail code there with the code in your instructions? or ADD the code (before/after)?&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;Step Five - call the function - is this pasted into same file as step 4?&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;I'm sorry to reward brilliant programminging with dumb questions, but I really want to have thumbnails AND display image

<description>&#60;p&#62;Hi Andymacb,&#60;br /&#62;
I've been working on another site, back to the gallery one now.&#60;br /&#62;
If you could show me that code I'd really appreciate it.&#60;br /&#62;
I'm having another problem using the image viewer...I can't seem to stop the image viewer sizing the images up too big when a thumb is clicked.&#60;br /&#62;
How have you sorted that on your photographer site?&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;thanks

<description>&#60;p&#62;Can you please explain how I cange the code so I can choose different images for different categories if their is no &#34;first image in the post&#34;?&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;I have a category named &#34;trailers&#34; where I have posts with only an embed video, like YouTube, I want those posts thumb to be a different image.&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;My second category is called &#34;vardag&#34; and contains personal things not related to &#34;the other stuff&#34; my blog is about, their I want another thumbimage, if their is no &#34;first image in the post&#34;.

<description>&#60;p&#62;this function works great indeed, however if your posts don't have an image, there is that default image.&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;for a website i am developing i wanted more flexibility, in other words if there is an image i want to grab it and show the thumb, but if there is no image i want nothing at all.&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;after a bit of searching i found that &#60;a href=&#34;http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/get-the-image/&#34;&#62;Justin Tadlock's Get the image plugin&#60;/a&#62; had a snippet of code that served to be very useful for this purpose.&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;I created a new function in my functions.php that contained that code:&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;pre&#62;&#60;code&#62;function image_by_scan( $args = array() ) {

	if ( !$post_id )
		global $post;

	preg_match_all( &#38;#39;&#124;&#38;lt;img.*?src=[\&#38;#39;&#38;quot;](.*?)[\&#38;#39;&#38;quot;].*?&#38;gt;&#124;i&#38;#39;, $post-&#38;gt;post_content, $matches );

	if ( isset( $matches ) ) $image = $matches[1][0];

	if ( $matches[1][0] )
		return array( &#38;#39;image&#38;#39; =&#38;gt; $image );
	else
		return false;
}&#60;/code&#62;&#60;/pre&#62;
&#60;p&#62;I then replaced &#60;code&#62;return array( &#38;#39;image&#38;#39; =&#38;gt; $image );&#60;/code&#62; with &#60;code&#62;return TRUE;&#60;/code&#62;&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;In my index.php I then added the additional code:&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;code&#62;&#38;lt;?php if (image_by_scan(&#38;#39;TRUE&#38;#39;)) : ?&#38;gt;&#60;/code&#62;&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;Works brilliantly, thanks so much for pointing me in the right direction!

<description>&#60;p&#62;Hi freaq - I've also coded a way to link back to thumbs - see &#60;a href=&#34;http://www.danpixphotography.co.uk/&#34;&#62;Dan Pix Photography&#60;/a&#62;.&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;I'm half asleep with a cold at the minute - I'll try and post back my code within a couple of days.&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;The essence of the solution is to put the gallery template into your theme files, and recode the links to images to include a parameter indicating the gallery's ID &#38;amp; page number so that you go back to the right page.&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;A.

<description>&#60;p&#62;Freaq - what you describe sounds like standard behaviour for NGG if I've understood you correctly.&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;In the NGG Options page in Admin just go to the Gallery tab and check the checkbox for the Show ImageBrowser option. Then when you click on a thumbnail in a gallery you will be taken to the image browser view for that image.

<description>&#60;p&#62;Thanks Arafat, this almost solves what I've been trying to find a solution to for days.&#60;br /&#62;
What I need is the thumbs to show as they do, but when a thumb is clicked the grid of thumbs is replaced with the imagebrowser layout with next and back buttons to click through the images.&#60;br /&#62;
I don't want any image overlays.&#60;br /&#62;
Using your layout I can get the large image to replace the thumbs in the div, what I need is the imagebrowser layout like this on the nextgen site...&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;&#60;a href=&#34;http://nextgen-gallery.com/image-browser/&#34;&#62;http://nextgen-gallery.com/image-browser/&#60;/a&#62;&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;If anyone could help it would be great, I've posted in the forums a couple of times but had no reply's.&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;thanks
