the widget reset plugin linked there fixed my similar snag. make sure you grab all the text etc from text widgets and any other settings first, though. i didn't encounter the error that rparker points out in the thread, so can't speak to that.

I'm having the same problem, I can no longer "edit" my widgets...does this mean I need to go back to an older wp version?
I deleted all my plugins but that didn't help.
Is this an issue with 2.7.1?

I had upgraded to 2.7.1 on a test site, everything was wonderful. I love the layout of the new interface. So I ugraded my live site, using the same theme, same plugins, same widgets, same host, same upgrade script.... must be something different somewhere. I lost ALL widget control, can't add, remove, save, tried to reset the widgets and then lost them all... finally did a roll back to 2.6. Widgets and widget controls are back on the live site. Same problem no matter what browser i try, dumped the cache, refreshed, rebooted, logged in, logged out.

Why does it work on one site and not the other?

in the Dashboard, the widget editor is saying "Using 0 widgets" (this is with the "Fresh Editorial" pre-loaded theme) - yet, the "ADD" button for META, PAGES, and "Recent Posts" is not appearing.

The bug runs across themes - i have tried several of the ones that come with the basic installation.

I'm also having trouble managing widgets. It's a fresh install, well upgrade, and even with all plugins turned off and switching themes it's assuming there are 7 widgets enabled - pages, archives, search and three category widgets.

I've just installed 2.7 on a testblog.

Is there a way to display both sidebars on the widget page (like in 2.3) so you can drag and drop between them?
If not, then it needs to be there. HAS to be there. It's the single biggest complaint from all my users (I host multiple sites) and it's the number one reason for all of us to not upgrade to any new version so far.

Sorry, but give me a damn good reason why we can't have the widget interface from 2.3 back?

2.7 has a lot of improvements, but the widgets still suck the way they are. I want to see both sidebars at the SAME time, not switch between them. I want to be able to drag a widget from one bar to the other, into the position I want it.

Well I think it depends on your own browser settings and also on the plugins used in WordPress - I´m using 24 plugins on a live blog with 2.7 and all of them are working without major problems. But I will update and see if widgets will also work for me.
And let me say, 2.7 is very very cool, I love it. Great work of the team.

I activated the Daleri Sweet theme, added some widgets to the sidebars, and tried to change the information in one of the sidebars, but it ended up in the header, so I then edited the sidebar.php file, and everything on both sidebars disappeared.

Now, no matter what theme I use, I cannot find certain widgets. They are not used in the sidebar, but they are not available in the list of available widgets. It seems the widgets I can't find (like Calendar) only show up if that particular theme had a calendar on it in the test run.

I liked the Daleri Sweet, and would like to use it, but don't know how to get the side bars back, and I like the theme I've got on there now, called Blue-Hues, but want to put a calendar, and maybe some other things on it.
