By the way, this only affects the RSS2 comments feed. I don't believe RSS or Atom feeds have this validation problem.

I fixed the validation problem by tweaking the feed-rss2-comments.php file.

Version 2.2.2. I just noticed my comments feed does not validate. I looked at the xml for both the comments feed as well as the main feed. The main feed uses the dc:creator tag around my public name which validates. However, the comments feed uses the author tag around my public name. Apparently, the author tag needs to contain a valid email address to validate.

I deactivated plugins with no luck getting the comments feed to validate. Before I submit a ticket on trac, can anyone replicate this? Thanks.

You have autoping by default. The thread you elected to join is a discussion about REMOVING it.

Using relative urls is way to avoid self-pingbacks. However, relative URLs in your feed don't go anywhere. And before I write a book, just click that link I provided for more info.

You do relative urls, as suggested, in your posts to avoid self pingbacks. Then this plugin fixes 'em in your RSS feed.

Nope, not logical at all. And for some (like me) preferred. If I refer to one of my old posts, I like the pingback on that old post. Thus, if someone googles into that article, they can see that there's an update or continuation.

That being said, you can of course, negate the autoping by specifying the link to your old post as relative instead of absolute. For example, if the post is at http

://mydomain.com/myblog/month/day/slug just link to it at
/myblog/month/day/slug
. WP won't do the pingback on a relative url.

This stopped for a while, but with 2.0.4 is back again. I make a post in which I link to an older post, and I create a pingback to myself that has to be manually deleted.

Surely it is only logical to discard pingbacks from the same blog?
