• Have you ever wanted to put in a picture in your post and have it wrap around the text, have control over it so that it is placed on the right or the left of your blog text? Have you ever wanted to have large/bolded floating text in the center of your blog entry to draw attention or declare important keywords? Well, look no further. I modified the quicktags function for wordpres so one would have a couple of built in tabs to do just that. Simply download the wp-quicktags script from here and put it in your wp-admin folder, rename the original for backup and rename the one you downloaded to wp-quicktags.js In your main blog entry, highlight the text or picture you want to float and click on spanleft or spanright. Example floats on my blog.
    Peace.

  • Awesome! Thank you Alex.

Hi guys – I think Laughing Lizard is “Mark”. 🙂
It’s really easy to add quicktags – just edit the quicktags.js file. If you have questions let me know.

hmm.. quick tags… for some of us its easier to put in our own css depending on how we want to display it each time. I’d have a harder time trying to remember the darn quicktag – rather than just coding it every time.. lol
cool idea though for some common things.

I agree. I’m trying to make it as easy as I can for my wife who is NEVER going to get proficient in WRITING code, so I am trying to make it easy for her to publish her knowledge and experience, while I take care of the back-end. No pun intended! 🙂

Grab the quicktags.js from 1.0.2. It is easier to understand.

I’m sure I don’t need to remind people of this — but adding proprietary markup tags into your posts might look great now but could be a design headache in the future.
I have to reformat 50 posts because I added proprietary mark-up specific to my prior design. I can’t tell you how much a pain it is reformatting the posts making mark-up non- proprietary semantic mark-up…
    Lesson Learned:
Don’t add any presentational mark-up into the post it self.
    Just my 2 cents,
    Chuck
