The official blog of the US Air Force, US Air Force Live, is a blog maintained by the Air Force Public Affairs Agency. The site is intended to be used as a conduit between the Airmen of the Air Force and online readers. This site is designed to have posts written by any Airman, anywhere at anytime. The site is a reflection of the men and women serving in the Air Force.

Why it’s in the Showcase: Air Force Live is one of a growing number of WordPress blogs being used by government.

RecoverySF is the official website for the San Francisco to keep its residents up to date with the happenings surrounding the American Recovery & Reinvestment Act and how it will affect the City and County of San Francisco.

Why it’s in the Showcase: RecoverySF is one of a number of WordPress sites and social media initiatives originating from the City and County of San Francisco.

Why it’s in the Showcase: With more than one million soldiers and a budget exceeding $100 billion per year, the United States Army is one of the world’s largest fighting forces and an undoubtedly notable WordPress user.

Part of the National Park Service, NCPTT protects America’s historic legacy by equipping preservation professionals with progressive technology-based research and training. NCPTT is an important part of our nation’s preservation and conservation community which, in turn, is a vital part of our nation’s cultural life. NCPTT serves the community that fostered its creation and, in turn, serves the nation and the world.

Why it’s in the Showcase: The NCPTT integrates an aggressive social media presence and uses WordPress as a CMS to power its website.

Welcome to the report of the Power of Information Taskforce. We are publishing this report in beta before we hand it in formally to the Government. We wanted to give the the community that has contributed to the Taskforce’s work the chance to make suggestions while the report is in draft. The report will be here for comment for two weeks. We shall make small improvements as we go along. Then we shall consider the views raised, adapt the report if we think it helps makes the case to the Government and hand it in to the Cabinet Office. The Directgov | innovate site has been created for a technical developer community. Directgov’s main site, www.direct.gov.uk, is the official government website for citizens of the UK. It provides information and services from across government. It also offers a contact and help facility in relation to government services for citizens.

Why it’s in the Showcase: A government reaching out to developers is not common and Directgov’s choice of WordPress to power its developer website and blog is especially notable.

Why it’s in the Showcase: The City of Albert Lea’s decision to switch its website to to WordPress saved the city over $19,000. It is now easier and less expensive for city officials to update the website and continue to provide content to the city’s residents, visitors, and local businesses.

America.gov delivers information about current U.S. foreign policy and about American life and culture. It is produced by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of International Information Programs.
