WordPress allows the newspaper’s team of writers and editors to easily create and share content with their readers. UMaine.edu is the premiere Web site for the University of Maine. Why it’s in the Showcase: UMaine.edu uses WordPress MU as a customizable CMS and branding engine for the various departments and units that make up the whole of UMaine. The web development team is continuously creating new plugins and modifying appropriately licensed plug-ins to further the goals of UMaine’s online presence.

Why it’s in the Showcase: Verio’s entire website is powered by WordPress, from the about section to the company’s listings of the products and services it offers.

Why it’s in the Showcase: The RGA’s official website uses a JavaScript image slider, social media aggregation, font replacement, and a number of custom plugins to provide a large amount of content.

Creative Spaces is an organization based in Melbourne, Australia.  The Creative Spaces website is designed to help you find a suitable and affordable space to develop, exhibit or perform your work.

Why it’s in the Showcase: The Creative Spaces site uses WordPress as a multi-user CMS (in excess of 300 registered users contribute content to the site). It was necessary for Creative Spaces to establish multiple user types with appropriate permissions as well as various post templates for contributing key content. According to the site’s developer, “The WordPress framework provided no limitations to the creative potential of the site.”

Queen’s College is an academic residential community situated right next door to the University of Melbourne. Its community consists of students (both undergraduate and postgraduate), tutors, professionals and staff. It also has non-resident members.

Why it’s in the Showcase: Queen’s College uses WordPress’ backend, along with Flash and JavaScript to create a seamless website that features both informational and news content.

UALR is a metropolitan university on the move, a dynamic learning institution where students find unique learning and internship opportunities provided through one-of-a-kind connections to the state’s thriving capital city.

Why it’s in the Showcase: The homepage of the University of Arkansas at Little Rock runs entirely on WordPress. Developed and deployed by the University’s web services team, the new site is an excellent use of WordPress as a CMS. The site uses links to manage the top navigation elements, and tags and categories for news and events. The top header image and sidebar are both managed with posts.

Why it’s in the Showcase: For an industry that tends to favor Flash sites, MPM’s WordPress implementation is especially notable. The three boxes on the home page work as links and the news section is made up of actual posts. Clicking on one of the three boxes or the “noticias” link will trigger a jQuery animation that takes visitors to the right section as it loads the post via AJAX.

RecoverySF is the official website for the San Francisco to keep its residents up to date with the happenings surrounding the American Recovery & Reinvestment Act and how it will affect the City and County of San Francisco.

Why it’s in the Showcase: RecoverySF is one of a number of WordPress sites and social media initiatives originating from the City and County of San Francisco.
