Just to let everyone know, while most instances I've seen of this occurring happen on Dreamhost, there are some others that have the same problem on other hosts. See:

Adam, it may help if on your Textile page you request people to post what hosts they use and perhaps we can find something in common with all those who've had crashes (e.g. Apache or PHP version).

I'm going to be trying a few things to get this to work better. I really like the functionality in Jim's phptextile class, but it does seem to be rather bulky. So I'm thinking about offering that as a secondary option in the next release. I'm planning on adding a shell out to RedCloth Textile, and also integration of the Textile 2 class from Textpattern.

Things are coming along, but dreamhost isn't particularly forthcoming with help in sorting out what the heck they did to their servers (my blog, hosted on Virgil) is running a stripped and gutted version of Textile that uses an old version of Textile 1 so the blog posts still work (somewhat).

Please feel free to email me or hit me up on IM if you have any suggestions.

I have the exact same problem on Dreamhost.

Was working all fine on (I think) 2.1.x. Then around May 9th, it died not displaying anything. If I typed a random page, it would go there and show my 404 page on the blog.

From there I was able to log in as Admin and disable plugins one by one till I narrowed it down to this one.

The thing is, I didn't do ANYTHING for this to happen - no upgrades etc. I didn't even edit any posts (I type a post 3-4 times a MONTH). I'm sure it's a Dreamhost issue. If you look at your error logs, it says Premature end of script (referring to the PHP on their server). This means that for some reason, the blog requires too much processing and crashes PHP (see that core file in your Wordpress directory?).

I contacted Dreamhost and they simply say "Your blog/plugin uses too many resources" (but they can't explain why it worked before).

In any case, I'll experiment more on Dreamhost by setting up a brand new blog, and enabling this plugin to see if it automatically crashes. If it does, time to go for a new host.

Incidentally, I contacted Adam about this issue, and he admitted the plugin IS resource hungry, and said he's planning on releasing a new version that's less intensive. Nevertheless, a bad sign for Dreamhost...

I might as well add that I did upgrade to the latest WP after getting these errors just to see if that fixed it - it doesn't.

Incidentally, the site is hosted on the yoda. I'd be curious to see what servers on Dreamhost the other posters have their blogs hosted on.
