Suggestion - add MyBlogLog for avatars. It's certainly more stable than Gravatars at this point, and the service is becoming more and more popular (and far more useful).

This is fairly easy to add. A basic version that just shows the number:

Open: inap.php
find if(!$pid){
After add: $link_text = str_replace('%count', get_comments_number($id),$link_text);

Once you do that, INAP will automatically replace '%count' with the number of comments in any of the show or hide texts.

I really think you need to add an option to display the number of comments along with the comment text.
If that's already an option, I quite possibly missed it...
