wp_get_archives('type=YEARLY') so you can display all your blog
    entries separated by years;

    2006

    ...
    entry 3
    entry 2
    entry 1

    2005

    ...
    entry 3
    entry 2
    entry 1

Are you shure there is no plugin for this since it really sounds easy to do...

But you are probably right anyway: since it is probably easy why not put it in the core...

I can think of a shoddy workaround to implement that. Why not to extend
wp_get_archives with a yearly postbypost?. It is a good way to give
direct access to all your posts so you can keep old posts alive.

Well, my three suggested ideas are somehow my personal Holy Grial when
developing my web; some kind of phpbb integration, fancy fonts and
    yearly postbypost archives. ;-)

Please! Please! Please! There are some nasty hacks you can use for this, but just extending wp_get_archives would be *so* much better. We have get_year_link (to get the link for the current year) so why not this?

This has been implemented as the function wp_get_archives now supports the 'yearly' parameter.
