Validate Email before posting comment

Instead of having to go to the admin user face and approve someone's comment before their comments show up, how about using an email validator to allow their comments to show up?

It'd work like a forum email validator, where you get sent a link to the email you provided and you have to click the link for your comment to show up.

As a commenter, this would take too much time to be worth it. As a admin, it's easier, and better, to require people to register an account to be able to comment.

This sounds like a good plugin idea though

Great idea although I have to admit that this should be covered by a plugin instead of core. Pity there isn't such a plugin. :(

or maybe simply drop the comment if the email is not a valid email address.

  7. A valid email address is not only useful to establish good postings, but very helpful if you're building an ethical, permission-based mailing list.

Perhaps an optional tick-box to indicate willingness to participate by registering, following the posting? Many forums now have this approach...
