UI for selecting registered shortcodes

Shortcodes are great. But AFAIK there's no existing user interface element in the Admin area to allow a person editing a page to select from a list of available shortcodes, the shortcode they want to use.

Some themes provide a custom button that appears on the WYSIWYG editor, but it would seem useful to add this to core.

Given that plugins CAN add a button, the ability to do this is in core already.

We can't blanket add a list of all shortcodes, as not all work on every page, and it's up to the individual devs to determine where and when their shortcodes will work. So you're in the unrealistic position of 'We'll have to get every developer to edit their code to mark if it's okay to show the shortcode in the edit pages.' and that ... is monumental :)

Since it's unlikely we'll get that, we leave it up to devs to add their shortcodes as desired. Like if someone wanted to help me code one for Genericons, so you could dropdown select the one you wanted, that'd be AWESOME. But it's also hard ;) For now, we leave it to the plugins.
