Would be nice to be able to define the size of generated thumbnails, and maybe even the image itself.

    Couldn't agree more!

We should be able to alter the size of the thumbnails created, as it this is hardcoded into wordpress but I feel it should be a variable that we can change!!

Secondly I feel we should be able to limit the maximum size of the images in wordpress, if a user uploads a bigger file wordpress should automatically resize it to the size the admin has defined in the settings.

Thirdly: WordPress does not create thumbnails for images below a certain size and images above a certain size, I dont know why this is but it would be really good if it were possible to turn this feature off.

I'd like to be able to enter the class or style of an image when I'm selecting it to send to the editor.

For example, I have two classes I use for large photos that cut them down to size to fit into my posting area for the blog or rather resize them for the blog and those classes are defined in my stylesheet.

I also like to use thumbnails alot and have them float either left or right and would like to be able to define that functionality without having to open the html code every time I upload an image.

In tandem with this, a feature that would limit photo sizes to the layout that is used so it doesn't disrupt the sidebars. I often mess up my layout by posting a pic that's a little too big.

I have a simple request/idea that probably fits with this thread.

When you click on a recently uploaded pic and choose "Use Original" then drag the image to the write screen, you get a thumbnail sized version. Could we please change this so that when "using original" the picture is added to the write screen at its full size. That would save a lot of time and tweaking.

Perfect. This is simple functionality for any blogging engine and should be included.

I agree that the image handling could be greatly improved. What I would like is for thumbnails to automatically become links to the full size image.

    another great idea!
I have a lot of trouble with this before.
Plus the way to resize images now is not very handy.
i hope to see it soon :)

I'm in total agreement. On upload, it would be nice to be able to choose at the same time:

    -The size of the thumbnail
-Be able to type in a pixel value in width box only, or height box only, and the other unchosen field automatically calculate the correct number of pixels to keep the ratio of the thumbnail so there will be no distortion of the image
-Choose to link to image, page, etc
-If choose image, once the thumbnail is clicked on in the blog, a nice window sized to the image will open in the middle of the screen (not the plain ol monitor sized window with the image plastered to the top/left.

    That would be my choice!
