MemberNo, don't replace the category system, just supplement it with tags. They both have their places, and are not mutually exclusive.

MemberI agree with bringing tags into the core and not replacing categories with them. And make sure that, when upgrading, it imports tags from UTW.

WordPress Lead DevWe've talked about this a lot. I even coded up a patch that'd allow you to use the category system as a typical tags system or as a category system. What we've realized is that there is a significant contingent that wants both. People want to be able to do broad hierarchical categorization, but they also want single-level "anything goes" tagging. I think it is inevitable that WordPress will support both, maybe even as soon as 2.2

MemberI love the idea. Tags is the way. I think what Blogger has, the Javascript hint on the available Labels available is great. It makes tagging so fun. Consider adding that to WordPress. ;)

MemberI'm not using UTW. I'm using Jerome's Keywords. It'd be nice if I didn't have to go back through 2000 posts and have to manually convert them. It was a pia to go back the first time and add tags in.
