Suggesting Site Groups for WordPress

   By the term “Site Group”, I mean an entity, which contain more than one site under it. Changing settings of a “Site Group”, will affect all the sites assigned to that particular “Site Group”.

   These settings can be enabling plugins and themes, time zone, permalink style, etc.

   Although a site is assigned to a “Site Group”, it should be possible to change those setting in each site’s “personal” admin panel again, without effecting any other site in the group.

   @Mark: This is not about having multiple sites in single WordPress installation! This is about editting settings of more than one site in a single installation at once!

   * Simple question: If I wanted to edit time zone for 2 sites, can I do it at once? No? Well, that is one feature of the idea I am suggesting!

   Can I enabled plugins and themes for more than one site at once?

   Can I change permalink style of more than one site at once?

   That is why I am submitting this idea!!!

   @Mark: I think it's about having several bunches of blogs, so that if you change settings to affect all the blogs of a certain bunch and not others.

   @Mark: For you to understand, this is some-what like creating a folder in Photoshop's or GIMP's Layers Pallete, and having all the changes you done to that folder effected in all the included layers.

   Thanks for clarifying, and apologies for my obtuseness. I see now how this added functionality would help for certain setups. Essentially, what you want is a way of bulk editing multisite settings. I would consider this an excellent plugin idea. I don't think the core should be burdened with it.

   @Mark: I don't see the reason why this should not be a core feature. One can use WordPress without creating any "Site Group" if they don't need it, but there should be options for the needy ones.

   If you still think this should not become a core feature, is there any place where I can meet some plugin developers?

    As for plugin suggestions, there are plenty of ways. One is in fact this place: if your idea is marked as "This can be done with a plugin" it will still be available. I also see many people blogging their plugin ideas and/or posting them in the requests/feedback section of the WP forums. And then you may run into developers looking for suggestions (e.g. Google "wordpress plugin suggestions").
