static "heading" text for archives

    If I have a category called "computers" I'd like to have a text that is always displayed at the top of the page when the "computers" category is browsed, e.g.:
    "This category contains text and pictures about the compters I've owned over the years"
    after that the normal category archive would appear:
    -post1
    -post2
    -post3
    ...

    this could be a special Page, or something that's defined when the category is created

    Categories already have descriptions, and it is the themes responsibility to display it.

    Theme territory.

    This is theme logic. Can simply be accomplished by using category-specific templates as outlined in http://codex.wordpress.org/Category_Templates.

    Put the "This category contains text and pictures about the compters I've owned over the years" as your category description then use the category description tag...
    <?php echo category_description($category); ?>
    Place this tag in your archive.php file

    See the http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/page2cat/ Category 2page plugin. Now all we need is a page2tag-plugin.
