I thought I had read somewhere that SSL login would be supported without any tweaking in version 2.1...maybe it's coming in the next release?

To make this work you would have to have an SSL certificate on your server.

  3. There is still an issue. There are some elements that don't load over SSL (causing a broken lock). I filed a ticket in tracker for that.

I would welcome this! Its a great security improvement. It would be also nice to activate this via a checkbox in the system configuration. Its deactivated by default. So if someone has the chance to use ssl he could just enable it in the installation process or later in the system configuration.

So WordPress user are still flexible (those who have no ssl-certificate). All others could use their certificates and improve their security!
