Hi i think you can manage it in the backend. Go to User and there you can manage it. I'm not sure but i think the admin (of course) and the editor can approve and delete comments. The author, contributer and subscriber don't have the permission to edit or delete any comments.

In my opinion it is advisable to manage the content by admin. To delete and approve comments you have to use the editor. Others are not allowed to work on the comments.

Depending on how many editors or users you have, it is strongly recommended to really chweck the comments, because some content seems legit but isn't. Editors therefore need to be advised/informed or ideally admin takes care. Not sure how many comments you usually get, but just for safety reasons if you know what I mean.

The ability to define which user has the ability to approve or delete comments should be a primary feature on the next wordpress version.

I run a word-press site. I have an employee , who has a user defined in my word-press (not admin user). if I can let him go over my messages, than it will save me piles of work.
