Return to Page/Post List after publish/update to save lots of clicks!

Just Googled this very issue and was surprised to see this was one of the few topics on this.

I too think an additional 'Update and Return' button is crucial. When editing posts, especially if you have a lot of them, I often filter them by category then edit, click update, then have to go back into list and re-filter.

A Return button would negate at least one of those steps.

writing code to accomplish this is fairly easy; i've had this functionality in my development plugin for quite some time. let me see go grab it and post. not sure it needs to be core though.

    here it is: https://github.com/crstauf/WordPress-Update-Action

code is provided as-is, with no guarantee or support provided from author (me). have been using it for almost a year now, and works perfectly. feel free to fork and refine to suit your needs.

    Hi @crstauf,

Thanks for sharing this, works a treat. Good work!

You should release it on the WP plugins site for some exposure.

You should look at the plugin
    Lightbulb Save and Close

It puts an button "Update and Close" on all of your posts where you can save the post and it takes you back to the list of all posts. Very nice.
