Recycle/Trash Bin

Well unless I'm mistaken, there isn't a trash bin for posts/pages/links!

If you aren't sure what I mean, well it works the same way as the recycle bin on windows.

Recently I accidently removed 10 of my web links which I can't find again. A recycle bin would be useful for accidently doing these daft things. When you are working with hundreds of posts and pages it doesn't make sense NOT to have this feature.

Joomla has it... nah nah nah nah!

I don't use Joomla no more though, it seemed like a bloated pig for what I want, and performed a bit like one now I think about it!

    WordPress is sweet.

  2. Why not just use "unpublish" or "not published" instead? Or, in the case of links, use "Keep this link private"?

It sounds like a cool idea; I'm just not sure it's right for core integration.

Nah I never explained myself properly.

Last night I went to update some links on my site and being a little tired (**excuse**) I checked the boxes next to the links I wanted to keep and then clicked delete!! Get it?

I should have checked the boxes that I wanted to delete. Easy mistake to make, but there is no way back because the items have gone for good.

Hence, a trash bin. Everything you trash goes to the bin before you empty it, just like windows desktop, mac, email etc.

  4. Okay, that makes a little more sense. I'm not sure where I stand on the implementation of it in core though.

Maybe we can get someone to write plugin for this to see how much it's used and how usable it is.

    Any takers?

There was a trash bin, actually.

It was developed by 'mirashii' as a plugin that was appropriately called "Trashbin". It never went past version 0.1, and now the associated URL is dead (http://lushlab.com/mirashii/?page_id=10) and I couldn't track down the user name of the developer.

It seems odd to me that such a useful thing was never picked up by another developer :-(

I run a multi-user blog, and I think this is a critically missing feature.

How could we get plugin development going? Is there a place to post plugin development requests?

I definitely support this idea. Quite a number of times I've deleted something and later regretted it, or needed to hide something (setting it to 'private' still makes it appear for high-level users, which isn't desirable).

I second that Idea , I am eveloping sits for clients, and most of them are not ammuned from causing troubles to their site ..
A temp place to locate eleted posts is quite a good idea ...

There will be a "Trash" function for comments, posts, etc in version 2.9.
