MemberThe post by email functionality is scheduled to be removed from the core of WordPress in favor of a Core Plugin that will have more functionality than what was found in WordPress. Perhaps that will be one of the features of the core plugin. No date though on the release of the core plugin.
You can keep tabs on it via the mailing list for it
