I would like to be able to post new posts to a certain page, and apparently, would like the function to be able to use pages as "blogs within the blog".

This is cool. I also wanted something like that.

    1. I strongly agree with the ability to publish a new post under a page or another post. "Sub posts". This idea could easily be implemented if WP decides to enhance the current Category system, to set a category description as a full featured page, instead of a simple excerpt.

    2. About "blogs within the blog" they already implemented it. you could try the WordPress MU. You can see it's used here: Apmart.com however this case is on separate subdomain each blog, eg cars.apmart.com. If you turn "VHOST" off, you can have blogs running on "folder type" slug, that is apmart.com/cars instead.

Wish to see those implemented. Thanks

It is a great idea. Makes the users able to use Wp as CMS too, since one can make different pages and enable some pages as a place for displaying certain posts from certain category. A good example would be a website with a News section that has a top part (managed through the content of the page) and a list of news (chosen from the category "news").

I think all these ideas about using WordPress as CMS should be packaged and added to WordPress. But they need to be hidden, unless the user chooses to activate them in "Options". After activation WordPress appearance should switch to CMS mode: "Write" opens at Page instead of Posts, and all the CMS features get activated.

If you like the idea add stars to it here:

You can already do this, you just need a theme that is designed for it so you can use categories to create your mini-blogs.
