    As a brazilian user I feel that the lack of multi-language support as a native feature of WordPress limit my ability to consolidate all my blogs into a single one. Presenting posts written into multiple languages makes for a confusing page. On the other hand, keeping separate blogs makes more difficult to build recognition.

    My "requirements" are simple: I would like to be able to post a blog entry about (let's say) Scoble's or Godin's latest post, written in english, in such way they can eventually read; also, at the same time, I would like to have the same entry in portuguese so my readers would be more comfortable understanding what's being discussed. That's the value of this idea. Make it easier for different people to read and comment, but still into a single blog.

    Hello,

    I believe the concept of Gengo is absolutely great, and works awesome (Thank you Jamie for that!!). However, we lack some support on it. When I browse through the forum for questions and answers about Gengo, I realize that there is actually a lot of WordPress users who use multilingual blogs. So I think it could be actually good to include the concept of Gengo into WP's core. It would also prevent a lot of incompatibility and updating problems. I vote for it at 100%!

    I don't quite agree. Because non native english speakers now outnumber native speakers by 3:1 ratio. It is unlikely that they don't want to or need to write on their mother tongue. On the other hand English is a global language. We need it as a Lingua Franca. I am sure a vast number of Chinease or South Asian people would love to blog in a multiple language. I don't think the introduction of this feature would slow down wordpress too much. Rather it would make wordpress an unbeatable international blogging platform.

    For many languages, Google translator still does not work, because it doesn't have enough bilingual text for it. By appropriate amount of blogging people of such languages can create a scope for that. And I am sure people speaking German, or Chinease would like to express their own thought in their own english rather than the second class translation of Google translator, which, often make no sense at all in translation.

    So, please, please give the native multilingual blogging support a chance

    I live in Canada and we are a bilingual contry. I need French and English System and Themes translated! Gengo is an option and the best one, but it's not without faults.

    Just voted five stars. I really like the idea of being able to blog in more languages then just English.

    A ratio of 3:1 for non-English users? Wow!

    The problem is that, should this feature be left to a plugin (like gengo), it would be quite big. Thus, when a new release of WordPress appears, the Multilingual users can't upgrade at the chance of breaking their site. Keeping the plugin up to date depends on those who are willing to give their time, and they have to follow core WordPress, which has a lot more developers.

    If this plugin is treated as an official plugin (meaning it is clean, compatible, flexible and up-to-date with the current version of WordPress) then I am all for it. It could be wasted space for those who do not need it. But actually, Gengo is out of date and development carried on in google code. Those in charge of it should applauded. But how long will it last?

    As it is currently I, for one, feel a bit awkwards towards installing it.

    WordPress should definitely have the option of writing in multiple languages. I myself am using Gengo. It's much better than any other language-related plugins.

    WP should implement it's "logic" into one of the new releases.

    There's only one illogical thing about how Gengo handles URLs. It adds the language code at the end of the URL instead of adding it at the beginning.

    For example instead of: http://www.example.com/welcome/en/
    the URL should be: http://www.example.com/en/welcome/

    This would add some "structure" information to URLs.

    I come to this conversation rather late. My blog; International seo blog caters to the international community and I need a way to blog in 3 languages. Has this problem been resolved? is Gengo the best option?

    Me too I need this feature. I'm testing Drupal and I love it's i18n support.

    There should be some option to set a language for post and link to the translated posts.
