Non-latin characters need love

I love the idea of UTF-8 but I don't know how to use it. Code points 0..127 are single byte ASCII characters and offer no problem. But what do we do with the multi-byte characters?

The dates and numbers on Persian and Arabic websites need to be converted by WordPress to the local numbers and date systems. Currently WP shows the numbers as latin numbers and does not convert the dates.

Commas need to be translatable so they can be replaced with the localized commas.

Same here. I have a bunch of German sites and would like to start a blog in Spanish.

Support for this would be appreciated :)

you can also check out a few different language plugins that uses google translate to display characters. That could be a way around it.

A simple and comfortable solution to include non-latin characters would be quite useful for example for users, who'd like to build up a wp-blog with cyrillic or chinese characters.
