Menu Structure in WordPress

    Hi All,

I was recently looking into how the admin menu structure was implemented in WordPress and noticed that the global $menu array stores the individual menu items in such a way so that the key represents the position in the menu. For example, the default is that the Dashboard is stored at index 2 so if someone added a new menu via add_menu_page() with a position of 2, the Dashboard would be replaced. It would be good if this could be looked at again so that it is more of an OOP designed part of the system. This has probably been raised before so if someone can point me in the direction of where an enhancement has been raised or a discussion is taking place, I'd be grateful.

    Thanks,

    Tim
