Make sticky posts easy

I already kvetched about this, but I thought perhaps an idea would be more constructive. I just want to make my very first post always my first post. Evidently there are plug-ins, but I don't have the patience or the inclination to try to install one. Besides, they seem only to be written for earlier versions. The only workaround I can think of is to edit the date of my first post to be later than my actually most recent one. My address is http://www.ericdobbs.com/cgi/wp/ Take a look. I have already decided that this is not worth wrestling with, but it might be okay, if it were easier to use.

You don't have the patience to upload a single file?

Regardless of a user's patience, this is something that would best be done inside of WordPress instead of a plugin.

I think this would be a great idea. Expression Engine has the "sticky post" feature built in and I've often wondered why WP doesn't include it. Yes, there are plugins that can do this but they're not compatible with the new version of WP and it doesn't look like anyone is taking over development to make them compatible. It would be great to just have a checkbox that says something like "make this post a sticky." I give this idea 5 stars!

I believe this is not a missing feature in WordPress, but that it is covered by WordPress' Page-functionality. If a post should be a sticky you should consider making it a page instead. There is a lot of existing functionality which enables one to do precisely what you want: make the contents of some page appear always somewhere at the top of the page.

    Hi,

This simple Stick Post plugin might help. You can even create your own random sticky text. There's no need to edit any template.
