Integrate more Microformats to WordPress, f.e. hCard for user profile, RDF for each article, etc.

Yes! I'm manually editing my user profiles to be hCard-compatible; it'd be great if that were built in!

I would love proper support for microformats in the default template. Already some microformats are supported (XFN), however not consistently (e.g. link dialog in editor). Other formats that need to be supported are rel-tag (for anything with tags/labels); hAtom (for marking up the blogposts themselves).

Additionally I would like support in the editor for things like hreview and hcalendar. This requires extra fields and support in the template. And of course hcard for users.

In general, editor templates might be nice to have. Currently blog post content is just a blob of html formatted content (with a subset of html supported). Structured content has, well, structure and requires an editor that supports that structure. Microformat represent a subset of usecases where such structure is required. A nice set of microformat compliant templates could then be provided together with the template support to mark it up nicely.

Finally, microformat support in Firefox 3.0 is currently listed as a P2 requirement. That means that later this year, out of the box, about 10% of the browsers will be supporting microformats.

As a leading content management system, wordpress should be there with out of the box support for microformats.

The conclusion: the next release of WordPress ("Semantic WordPress Editon") could support XFN, rel-tag, hAtom, hCard, hReview, RDF, hCalendar,...

Good proposal. Please take note of the post on the need for approximate and ambiguous dates in http://microformats.org/wiki/genealogy-formats.

Actually this goes for geo-coordinates too.

There are a number of plugins that fill the microformat gap where necessary.
