    Thats a good idea.

I've seen this WordPress site (http://www.mynewsdesk.com/) that has made a clean solution for users. Very easy to use. However, the editor and also the layout should be easy to use for the users as standard.

For instance, there are no edit buttons in the editor and also no separate boxes. Become free member and take a look.

In my opinion this kind of solution should be standard for WordPress which should use the template also when the users are logged in. Also, same look.

I agree with editor changes. The problem is not with TinyMCE itself, it's because the Editor can't work as it should because of the way it was implemented. Many of the issues with the tags showing up is due to code written by the wordpress developers, Not the TinyMCE editor.

It needs to be fixed and allow all options and plugins to work and exist as in the newest version of TinyMCE, which of course, the latest 3.3 release of wordpress doesn't inlcude...

I like CKeditor much better than TinyMCE, mostly because it preserves the <p> tags and saves files with a better HTML structure. I'm not asking to switch to CKeditor (some plugins have tried), but incorporate some of its features.

The problem is that everyone needs something else and that changing the core functionalities are a challenge... Wouldn't it be better if the editor was a plugin itself? Thinking again, if most of the 'basic' functionalities would be plugins? So WordPress would be a system with some basic plugins which could be replaced or thrown out.

I think the idea of the visual editor being a plugin is an excellent idea.

However, I completely disagree that "everyone needs something else..." In fact, that perspective is part of the problem. Virtually anyone that's used a computer has used a text editor of some sort. Adding images, linking text and of course basic actions like emboldening and italicizing are critical aspects of any visual editor for any platform in any environment.

Of course, WordPress themes can be extended to have extra features like header images, various editable areas on a page, etc... and THOSE are unique to each user and should not be included in the basic visual editor plugin.

But I completely agree it should be a plugin (as with many other aspects of a site).

Most people just need the curent visual editor. When you need more, that's when it gets messy. As s3w47m88 (wow, that's a finger full) said, that's when you get plugins :)

But yeah, we need to get on new TinyMCE or something ELSE, cause it's not great. dunno what is, though :/
