Improved Search in WordPress Extend

I'm constantly amazed by the poor quality of search results in the WordPress Plugin search.

It's absolutely ineffective. I might just go create a custom search in Google to speed things up..!

    This is a duplicate idea.

I'm voting for adding search for ideas upon submission, to find similar ideas (like submit on digg).

    Absolutely. Search here sucks.

Oops, I hadn't noticed the previous post (perhaps I couldn't find it by searching..!)

Yeah, I set up a Google CSE and it's so so so much better.

Hopefully I'll get round to embedding this on my own site at some point. I've set up a keyword search in firefox so now I just type wps [plugin keywords] in the address bar, hit return and happy out!

You can set something like this up by creating a quick search bookmark where the bookmark location is:

    http://www.google.com/cse?cx=008509883904767467899%3Auraltm3inl4&ie=UTF-8&q=%s&sa=Search

the "%s" after "&q=" automatically substitutes whatever words you have placed in the address bar after your Keyword usage.

    It's great.
