Improved Functionality: Sticky in Category Archives

I noticed people are having issues with sticking a post to the top of a category archive. I have tested this and confirmed it does not work. It only works with the front page.

For example, I have a category entitled “Advanced”. I want a post to stick to the top of the category archive when someone selects the “Advanced” category from my front page. (It could be a post as a general disclaimer about mastering early skills before tackling these advanced skills.)

I am using a static front page, but I think some of these people are not but still would like just one category archive post to stick. I would like to know if there is a workaround to this as well because the functionality is not applicable if you are using a static front page.

For clarification purposes, this is using the new embedded sticky functionality when selecting "Quick Edit" or the "Publish" section in 2.7

For now, I think this is probably plugin territory, but will bear it in mind when we start talking about features for version 3.0.

I have been scouring the web to do just this, at first I thought this would be relatively simple... but after 3 hours, no luck.

    My interim solution:

Use two loops in the category template; the first one displaying only sticky posts from that category; the second one displaying only non-sticky posts from that category.
