Hover menus

I would like to see it optional to enable "hover menus" in the admin panel. For example, sometimes I think it would be faster to be able to hover over 'Options' and see the full list of

    General
    Writing
    Reading
    Discussion
    etc.

rather than having to click on Options to access these sub-pages.

    Agree, but only if optional.

Edit: although I feel this idea is better worded, it essentially duplicates Dynamic no-loading-admin menu.

There's a great plugin which does this already: http://frenchfragfactory.net/ozh/my-projects/wordpress-admin-menu-drop-down-css/

Could possibly be implemented in the core though.

I'm all for keeping the core lean, but this would be a major UI enhancement. It would be really nice to see this implemented as part of the default install.

Try the Dropdown Admin Menus plugin, which works with the default Admin theme, SpotMilk, and Autumn. Works like a charm, and solves the problem.

It also reminds me of Joomla's drop down menus a bit. Man, that CMS is so ahead of its time.

The Admin Drop Down Menus plugin has moved a bit, and has been upgraded. I'd like to see it (or something much like it) in the core.

Nice usability enhancement, and makes the interface look a bit more "professional", for want of a better word.
