sheetsj Add an upload image button to the insert/edit image interface box, within the author console. Why make a plugin responsible for these things when it just clutters up an otherwise functional ui? Have it go straight to the uploads directory.
Also, it might not be a bad idea to allow a browse image function in the same area. That way an image that you previously uploaded can be chosen for a post, rather than having to know the filename and path.
