Easily Share Articles (i.e., Repost or Reblog), sort of like Facebook Allows

I don't even want to add my own introduction or own words concerning the article I post. I just want to post it. A nice thumbnail, teaser and boom. Just like Facebook. But I want to compile these items on my WordPress blog. Am I making any sense? I love how I can quickly share articles on Twitter and Facebook. I want a shareto WordPress, but to the self-hosted WordPress, and have it post an article.

Well, yes. The problem is I use Google Chrome, and I can't seem to figure out how to make Press This work with that browser. I just searched other Chrome Extensions for ones similar to Press This. I found one called Word This but it authenticates to a wordpress.com account, not a self-hosted WordPress account. Alas, I'm looking high and low on how to get myself outfitted with this functionality. Thanks for your response!

    It's just a bookmark, like bit.ly uses

http://en.support.wordpress.com/press-this/ has more detailed how to. :)

Okay, I had to reveal my bookmarks bar in Google Chrome to get this to work. It works. However, it doesn't auotmatically generate a thumbnail and summary the way Facebook does when I "share" the same URL to my Facebook page. Is there any way Press This can be tweaked to automatically generate a Featured Image (from the page that is being "pressed") along with a summary based on the meta tag data of the page? Again, just like the Facebook share. Except instead of sharing to Facebook, I'm share/publishing to my self-hosted WordPress blog. Thanks.

Not yet, that I know of, but this could be done with plugins.

The only 'tricky part' would be the image, which you can do by clicking on the image icon (above the content of your post). It will pull in any images you can embed and you can pick on.

As for the 'meta tag', for PressThis, you would highlight the words you want to appear, and use those.

I saw a plugin called "Press This Reloaded" which adds a bit more of the normal WP post options, yet no auto summary and featured image of the URL/article being shared. Alas, I will play with the normal Press This some more to see if I can add featured images the way you're describing.

My Twitter & Facebook are full of cool articles I share, and I can even add a little intro about the article I'm sharing (in addition to the article title, summary, and thumbnail). So was looking for a way to share in this manner to my own WP blog.

I actually saw a preview/demo of a new template being released by Michael Hyatt (www.michaelhyatt.com) that includes what I'm describing as a "Post Type." I wish more templates were created like this, or maybe there's a plug-in that would do this for me? His Post Types allow him to post articles, announcements, events, and URLs. Also books. If he does a book review, the title of the post links directly to the Amazon page. Check out his blog and post types. Pretty groovy. http://michaelhyatt.com/get-noticed-wordpress-theme.html

Another template I found that is built for nothing but sharing URLs is http://www.premiumpress.com/demo/?t=directorypress. It shares a thumbnail of the website, which becomes the featured image, but auto generates a title and short summary. This will work for any sites I build dedicated to sharing URLs of specific categories. But for my existing blog, I sometimes really do blog, LOL, so this template is not a match for my primary blog.

Anyhow, I'm probably rambling at this point. Thanks so much for engaging me and at minimum re-pointing me to Press This. I can certainly use this is an interim solution with my beloved Google Chrome browser :)

I have the exact same need : a "share to WordPress".
Ideally, using a bookmarklet on an article I'd like to share, I can post an article on my own wordpress blog containing a nice thumbnail/title/description/link snippet of the original article.
Or (but a bit less easy-to-use) when I add a URL within a post on my blog, the thumbnail/title/description snippet is automatically generated, replacing the url link.

I'm desperate to find a solution ... please answer if you have the magic plugin to do that :)

tranbouille - You'd need a plugin to do that automagically, but Press This really DOES quite a bit of that.
