In the codex there is a one-line code for a drop down menu of categories, pages, users...
Why not for archives?
Blogs are getting old, having a list of each month gets very long. But limiting the list to just a few posts or months makes getting to past posts that much harder.
I know there is a multi-line work around. What I'm asking for is a one-line solution.
