Default searching of both posts and pages
What it says on the tin!
That the default WP search option will globally check both posts and static pages and return results for all.
Seems kind of a must and was unfortunately highlighted by the recent search plugin slaughter of 2.0.6.
That aside, WP rocks!:)
Yes, this is a must. I have to put the "search pages" plugin into every WP site. Maybe an option to search comments could be included as well?
Just to refine this one a bit...
On the option page how about a Search section with three simple checkboxes: Posts, Pages, Comments.
That way each user can select exactly how much of the site is being searched.
I agree with this one 2.1 still seems to not have this behaviour despite the promotion of pages
Search needs a major overhaul and some improvements were made in 2.1, but yes, it'd be nice to have search be uber for 2.2 (operators, page searching, etc.).
Maybe a Search Results page that lists automatically Posts, Pages, and Comments. And allow plugins like Forums, Gallery, etc... to add option of additional things to search, posabbly even the whole web.
And be administered in Settings > Search in the back end.
I'll definitely give this one a huge thumbs up, and in particular, I agree that it should be an option within the admin as to the limitations of the default search function (posts, pages, comments, etc) -- without having to have a special advanced search page. One default search box that will search within any area defined via the admin options.
Yes please: Alle Content (including comments)
Some blogs have very important links in comments...
I currently use AJAX search code that isn't a plugin to include pages. I prefer it over the normal search. ;)
Another big thumbs-up here.
Ideally, I'd like the flexibility to either force searching of certain areas from a back-end config panel or include checkboxes under the public-facing search form so that visitors could decide for themselves.
