Better Page Management in the WordPress Admin

I'm using WordPress as a CMS for a lot of projects these days - and the more pages the site has, the harder it is to navigate through them in the admin. (Imagine 100+ pages) Being able to assign categories to pages (so you can filter on categories) would be great - as well - being able to use that as a parameter in wp_list_pages() would be great too. ie. List all pages with x category assigned to it.

I started looking at Joomla because WordPress doesn't already do this. I'm still going to use WordPress for the reasons I listed in this post: http://www.scriptygoddess.com/archives/2009/01/24/joomla-vs-wordpress/ that post also describes what I really need with regard to the better page management. It's probably the one thing Joomla has over WordPress.

Good luck with this. It wouldn't fly a couple of years ago but they may be taking the WP-as-CMS aspect a bit more seriously now.

I would take this one step further (after reading notthatugly's post thread (well, a page or so)) and allowing an option such as wp_list_categories' "show_count" option. This would mimic "wp_list_categories('show_count=1');" while it tallied up pages in the instance of anything other than a flat/no-depth specification.

The new Woo menus in WP 3.0 should take care of all this for you.

We don't yet support categories for pages, but it's on the roadmap.

Ya that would be nice.. But what I am thinking is that its the time now that we either do away with pages or posts. there should be just one thing now.. with categories..

or may be as you said.. posts are with categories and tags so why not pages.

I don't see how the Menu feature in 3.0 helps navigating 100+ pages in the Admin...

    You could try pageMash plugin.

I use pagemash plugin and it doesn't seem to work anymore. The order of pages is not according to what I set. This function is very important to me because I have many pages and I want to organize them properly.

I've already checked with the plugin developer, however the issues seem to be the way the wordpress pages were coded so I need your help, is there anyway I can fix it?

    Thanks.
