Allow developers to change plugin names

Simple really - there is currently no easy way to change a plugin's name and it would be great if we had a central location where we could edit it. After editing, when users next update the plugin in their WP dashboard the name changes there.

You can change the display name of your plugin all you want.

You cannot change the URL slug (reasons, silly code, conflicts).

Right - I assume if I just change it in the readme.txt then it will update the name? I was hoping to be able to change the slug too though as it would make more sense having a URL slug that matches the name of the plugin itself. Do you know if there's any chance that this will be added as a feature in the future?

Change it in the readme and your main plugin file.

It's unlikely we'll be able to change the slug, as it would break the update checking.

OK fair enough. Thanks for the info.
