I struggled for ages to find a mobile theme for my site that would allow my menus to work on mobile devices. Only after a lot of trial and error did I discover minileven. The reason it took so long is that it is not listed as a theme on WordPress.org. It is available on WordPress.com. And it is part of the Jetpack plugin (but that plugin slowed my site to the point I deleted it). But there is no place to download it directly for self-hosted WordPress sites.
There is no reason minileven can't be used on self-hosted sites, even without the Jetpack plugin. I took the theme files from Jetpack and put them into my themes directory, and they work. The theme can be used either as the primary theme for a site, or as a mobile-only theme using one of the mobile switcher plugins. So why not make the theme files available for download?
