Ability to Assign Header Image Per Category

One feature we need (and apparently a lot of other people too) is a way to have the header image (for the Twenty Ten theme, in our case) to change based on which category is being viewed. If done as a plugin it would be an instant hit. If I knew how to built it, I would. Maybe one day I will learn. In the meantime, if someone out there knows how, a lot of people would deeply appreciate it. :-)

Not exactly what you're looking for, but this plugin does it on a post-by-post basis.

Thanks, however, WordPress has had that capability built in for a while now, via the "Featured Image" feature. :-)

A chat with the plugin's developer might be fruitful.

Thanks. Some time back we posted this suggestion on the page for the Category Icons plugin, a very well suited place to add this type of feature. No reply from that author as far as I know. This topic/feature seems to be searched for / requested by quite a few people. So, we're posting here to seek some attention for it.
