Done. :-) Thanks, Mike.

Would have posted in http://make.wordpress.org/accessibility but it looks like the posts there are too old to have open comments still. Alas.

That's why I asked for clarification ;) Some people don't know there's a difference between the front and back ends.

For people who want to help out on the backend, I strongly suggest you come over to http://make.wordpress.org/ui/ where that's actually talked about and where the suggestions etc would be best :D

I think the accessibility of the front-end is more theme and/or plugin dependent, Ipstenu.

However, the back-end has gotten increasingly more difficult to use with each version -- generally due to the increased reliance on AJAX and such. Having accessibility options built in like the Widgets page would be ideal. And even something like having the ability to expand all the menus by default (without using a plugin!) so the fly-out menu doesn't destroy readability with a screen reader. Or having a means to disable the visual editor in settings rather than only individually for each user in their respective profile.

(I'm sure there are other things, but these are just the ones that pop into my head.)

I'm hoping this is the right place to post this.

I have mild vision issues and I'm noticing an unfortunate trend in web design towards outlining text entry fields in a very light color or making important links a light color until they're hovered over.

I recently signed up for a WordPress-based site and saw that the site designer had offered users a couple of color options, both of which seemed to incorporate a very light color for certain parts of the site. I can't even find the text entry boxes on the site and must hover my cursor all over until I stumble into the boxes. The site is run by an artist who I imagine is thinking aesthetics and not practicality.

Ppl with vision issues and older ppl in general need high contrast when viewing things on computers. Folks with vision issues would really appreciate a big outfit like yours publicizing the need for web designers to design with us in mind! Thanks!

Some blind friends, complaining that go with each new version of WordPress, has been losing the accessibility features they had before. I believe that accessibility is a very important subject and should be treated with great affection by the developers of this wonderful system. Think about it!
