Ok maybe not as a post format...that's ok. just an idea. I just thought given the popularity of posting mobilely that it might be interesting to have a way to present mobile posts differently just like we can with the other formats. I thought post formats as a starting point for this idea because the device origin would be able to be archived too.

Anyway it was just to see if there was a way to give mobile post some different indicator of where the post was published from, (ipad, droid, etc.) other than that signature that currently is available.

As Pat said above, maybe a setting on the mobile apps...to set device origin, just like the Geotagging of posts.

Why not just create a tag called "mobile" and add it when you're writing the post? Sounds like plugin territory if you're going to do anything outside of what is already available.

Maybe, rather than a special post format, there could be an option in the mobile apps to add a "mobile" tag to posts?

To what end? Posts are posts, regardless of where you wrote them.

Would be great to be able to query those posts made from a mobile device.

There is a signature you can put from a droid app post...but there is no way to distinguish these mobile posts from the other posts on my site. That I know of...

Maybe mobile posts could be a post format.
