Like wp-admin area pages always check authentication and if not login it redirect to login page, Similarly all back-end WP-Ajax request should also check the same and if the user is not login it should prompt a jQuery login dialog to the user.

Now if we make an ajax request from the old ajax application page, then it remains stuck with no user notification...

I think it will great if in such situation it prompt a login dialog and if on cancel it will automatically redirect out from the admin area.
