We're moving to a model with a new default theme each year that will have the most current coding standards and show how to use new features. Bundling Sandbox would no longer be appropriate.

I agree; a new blogger should be able to start out of the box with a choice of well-coded good-looking themes.

Any action in the default packed themes with WP 2.7? This area of WP needs to be modernized with a sweet new default theme.

Could be worth including as a standard - although I thought the idea of wordpress was to keep everything as slimline as possible. - Including extra themes that are so simple to install (my grandmother has installed a wp theme before!) - this goes against the idea of keeping stuff slimline and is there any point?

Perhaps within the 5 minute installtion the sandbox theme should be mentioned? - This allows people to download wordpress and then the sandbox theme, should they want it....

Sandbox is clean code, semantically correct, and built from the ground up to incorporate current "best practice" design elements. The variety of CSS-only appearance changes is staggering.

Retire the standard Kubrick and make a Kubrick lookalike from Sandbox as the default, and only, prepackaged theme.

DanAtkinson, tomthewebmaster: the idea is apparently about a theme called sandbox, not about adding fancy sandbox/AJAX funtionality for live testing.

And I think it is better to move Kubrick theme to Sandbox and let Sandbox be the only theme shipped with WP.

I like the idea of a sandbox. I have another blog setup for testing. It is sometimes hard to have multiple blogs and databases (moving files, ect).

Sounds like a good thing!

I have my dev box running as a mirror for my live site, but sometimes I think it'd be less hassle if I could just do it all in a live atmosphere where I could drag the loop into a page, and style around it. Adding a little AJAX into the mix would be great, because it would be able to simulate live data on the fly.
