I am need of feature on sub-sites of Multi-site Installations which let's a user to display his full profile details (like Name, Profile URL, sub-sites list , a profile photo , Followers , follows) on sidebar just like Amplify.com (Amplify is not live now.It was shut down )

Found some articles how to do that with a custom code just profile link. But hope some one would release such thing as a fully developed plugin with all required profile details

The widget content should be appeared on Profile page(On sidebar), author page, sidebar of Sub-site( Profile details should be of the sub-site owner or the author of the profile and not the visitor or the user who is viewing or logged)

Thanks

As this is so heavily dependent on your themes, it would be nigh impossible to hardcode it into WP. At best, a plugin like Widget Logic is a more sustainable option.

Yes, I agree that this is very important. Also, I would add that it would be necessary to have more control over the order that the sidebars are displayed. For instance if you add a lot of sidebars it becomes very difficult to drag your available widgets to the different sidebars. Especially as the sidebars that you create extend well beyond the page fold. I wish that the sidebars in the right hand column of the widgets.php page were capable of being dragged and dropped. I found another a plugin that helps this greatly here: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/many-sidebars/screenshots/

It would be nice if something similar to this was built into WordPress core.

You see many themes lately come out with sidebar management built in the backend of Wordpress, and it makes life so much easier than creating a new template file or other hack solution. Sad thing is their solutions sometimes break because of updates to the core of Wordpress.

Let's build a solution that makes it easy to put certain sidebars on certain pages and certain posts. We shouldn't have to build new template files to do this, it could be made so much easier. If I was a backend developer I would do it myself, so I extend my thoughts to the awesome Wordpress community.

See you on the forums!

I could do with something like this myself, although it's usually the list elements in nav menus I want to count.

However my feeling is that we should really be using css3 to style the nth elements in lists and perhaps using one of the available js libraries to extend such capabilities to IE.

You could also look at hooking into the dynamic_sidebar_params filter to add your own counts into the classes. Look at /wp-includes/widgets.php for the source code of the dynamic_sidebar() function which calls this hook.

hi,
you know I have found a few widet plugins for video, all of them weak. What about developing one for flv. composites, in order to put preveiws in our side bars for our members?

I do not have the necessary skills to develop this~ but for someone who understands the process, how difficult whould this be?
