			<description><![CDATA[<p>Well, we are still waiting for this to be implemented in the core, but no luck yet.</p>
<p>However, WordPress developer Randy Hoyt has independently continued development of the WP Category Meta plugin, which had not been updated for over two years.</p>

			<description><![CDATA[<p>I spent the best part of 2 days trying to get an image associated with a category so I could use it within an image slider feature. Having Category custom fields would have made this so much easier to acheive at theme level.</p>

			<description><![CDATA[<p>Yes, but as the Featured Image facility requires the meta data structure, then it should be a natural progression.</p>
<p>Separate, ok. But a sensible evolution and a feature which would justify the original request to add meta data for taxonomies.</p>
<p>Eitherway, it gets my vote.
