Overwriting wp_die seems fixed http://wordpress.org/extend/ideas/topic/modular-error-pages-a-way-to-override-wp_die.

If so in my case I'm going to render errors myself that are triggered when a user misses some comment fields. This is something that happens more than DB connection errors and this should really be customizable.

I would prefer a simple solution where you can put a error.php in your theme and then this will be used instead of the hard coded rendering in wp_die(). At least some hooks would be helpful to be able to do something ;)
