Ellen, Hi. It looks like you've got pretty/fancy quotes surrounding the lang attribute value. Try replacing them with standard double quote characters.

Hi Ryan, I installed the latest version of wp-syntax today on wp 2.2 and activated it correctly. And I followed the instruction on marking up my code. But it does not do any highlighting....I do not have another plugin that also uses Geshi. And the "lang=..." attribute was not striped out. You can have a look at http://ningning.org/blog2/?p=94

Do you see any syntax highlighting? First I thought it was my theme, but the code did not get highlighted under the standard wp theme, either. Any idea? Your enlightenment will be highly appreciated!

Regards,
Ellen

@everah, I haven't seen that, but I might need to see an example to fully understand what you're seeing. Is your problem reproducible against the GeSHi demo?

Has anyone experienced any issues with HTML code displays in PHP highlighting? I do notice that all of the opening PHP tags (<?php) end up with a space after the ?. But for some reason, the highlighter is not making HTML entities out of the parsed highlighted code, so when there is HTML in the source for highlighting, I need to mess with the source HTML tags to make them render properly.

For posterity, rainy14f was having trouble with formatting on his archived pages. Unfortunately, it's tricky to syntax highlight those pages because WP strips out formatting tags when displaying the excerpts. I'm sure there might be a clever work around or hack, but I haven't investigated it yet. Currently, WP-Syntax does not support highlighting in the archive view, but I added a ticket to look into this at a later date.

@rainy14f, Hi. I took a look at your broken page, but it's tough to tell what the problem is without looking at the source of the post and the list of other plugins that might conflict. First, please make sure you've turned off possible conflicting WordPress features that are listed in the FAQ.

If you still have problems, my contact information is here. Please copy the unformatted post content and the list of plugins that you use and send that to me via email.

This is a great plugin! It's working well with my wordpress except for one page. It seems not working at all in that page. You can find it here http://fanshao.user.openhosting.com/blog/?cat=4

I tried to find out the problem but got no luck.I would appreciate it if you could help a bit.

I had my XHTML validity checker turned off, and it still didn't work. No matter what I did, the lang="php" got lost after save. The tweak is working fine now, I guess I will live with it for now. :)

Thanks for the note. I will keep that in mind if I ever export the data.

@Encoded, Ah, I see. It sounds like you were possibly running into a conflict with Wordpress' XHTML validity cleaner. See the FAQ to see how to turn that off, but your regex tweak is a fine alternative. Just keep in mind, that the original syntax is designed to hopefully gracefully degrade in the event you need to export your site elsewhere since it uses the
<pre>
tag.

Then again, the problem might also be an issue with WordPress MU (multi-user). I haven't had a chance to test that yet.
