Can I use the plugin without widgets support?

Yes. The default invocation is:

Advanced invocations will be properly documented soon, but can be learned of by looking at the plugin source code.

Can I display only bookmarks that belong to a given tag?

Yes. To accomplish that, go to Presentation > Widgets and fill in username/tag instead of username in the Username field. E.g., if your username is johndoe and you want to display your bookmarks tagged Cooking, you should fill in the username field with johndoe/Cooking.
