Why do WordPress disable the default Update Service when I create a network/WordPress MU setup?

At the moment I don't know ... Most likley it has something to do with that you, as a network administrator, don't want the feature to be missused. If you have alot of blogs, and they can add whichever update services they like, there might be alot of update posts. This is just a guess though. :)
