Please add a checkbox for the admin to decide if he/she wishes to get notification emails for comments marked as spam.
In low spammed blogs this can be useful to release comments mistakenly flagged as spam.

Why? If you have a low spam site then don't use Akismet or other solutions that send spam to your SPAM box. Simply moderate everything.

I think my views on this are the same as they were six months ago when that thread was posted. I can't see the point. If you want notification about everything, just don't bother with akismet and hold everything for moderation.

That's a very bad attitude. It is not black or white and that's it. WP is known for it flexibility and simplicity - please keep it that way.
Akismet is doing a nice job most of the time so it is good to use it and I sure don't wish to hold all comments for moderation, especially since akismet is doing a good job and most comments are legit.
My solution is giving the admin a good balance. it is just a check box to get an email notification of a held comment, this is not rocket science to make an issue of.

I can see your reasoning but I personally don't think it would be a good idea. Maybe a plugin could be made to do that.

I first searched for a plugin for this and didn't find any. Only then I posted here.
I really don't care how this will be solved - as a plugin or as part of wp, but since there is no plugin, I turned to wp.
